Typical programme
Whilst the amount of free time depends on the nature of the package, (eg those taking the cookery seminar have less spare time than those with the canoeing option) here are some suggested itineraries.
Day One
Arrive at the hotel around lunch time. Visit the old village including the narrow streets with their centuries old houses, the village castle and church. Stroll along the riverside to the confluence of the rivers Lot and Truyere which come together at the heart of the village. Not forgetting the 13th century bridge(classified as an ancient monument) across the Truyere to which our Hotel is attached. Relax in the Spa later in the day either in the jacuzzi, sauna or hammam or for the more energetic, blow the cobwebs away in the gym. Pamper yourself with a massage or treatment from our qualified beautician Karine Loubet (booking ahead earlier in the day advised). Her treatments make use of BIONATURAL products and essential oils and include facials, manicures, depilation and make up. Her massage repertoire includes Shiatsu, Californian and Hot Stones.
Finally have dinner in our restaurant overlooking the river, and explore our wine list. As well as traditional French favourites we stock a range of local appellations including Entraygues, Marcillac and Cahors wine and our house Champagne specially chosen by the owners. You will be pleasantly surprised by the quality and the price !
Day 2
After your coffee, croissants, pain chocolat and rolls, (freshly baked each morning in the Hotel) embark on the planned part of your package. If you are free then there are many fascinating places to visit. These include some of the officially designated most beautiful villages in France (Aveyron has more than any other department). For example the historic and mystical village of Conques, perched on a cliff above the river, with its ancient golden treasures of St Foy, enormous Abbey and Roman art. Visit Laguiole, a village perched in the Aubrac mountains about 25 Km from the hotel. It is world famous for producing high quality cutlery in what is literally a cottage industry. Just above the village visit it ski stations for spectacular views in winter or summer. Travel the route following the Templar castles. Aveyron was the home of the Templars and Hospitalliers and these ancient and eerie fortresses give an insight into a different age. Go fishing ! The rivers teem with trout and other species. If you are feeling active, go for bike ride and follow some of the Tour de France route, or walk through the Gorges or canoe down the river. If the gastronomy has tempted you then visit the wine caves or the the cheese caves at Roquefort or Laguiole. Relax in the Spa and/or bar followed by dinner
Day 3
Breakfast followed by any combination of your specified package and/or those free activities listed in day two.
